Studied Planning at the Radboud University in Nijmegen in the 90's. Got excited about GIS and specialised in geo data infrastructures and applications. Developed an award winning enterprise GIS for the municipality of Arnhem. Started a consultancy on using geo data for disaster management and public safety. Got hired by the Dutch Cadastre, land registry and mapping agency to set up new data driven businesses. And worked as a senior strategic advisor for the board. Worked as proces manager on national information models, like the model on public safety and on the introduction of CityGML in the Netherlands, at Geonovum. Started initiatives on smart cities, digital twins, autonomous vehicles, block chain, etc. Worked for Arcadis as a senior manager on the professionalization of the data management group. Nowadays working at WUR a programme lead on Data Driven & High Tech and Digital Twins; chair of the Wageningen Modelling Group and Coordinator of Research at the Wageningen Data Competence Center. Member of the WUR AI taskforce.
