Marco (born 1970) has been working at Wageningen University & Research (WUR) since 2000 and has served in Corporate Strategy and Accounts since 2018. As the Liaison Officer between WUR and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), he actively fosters global connections, particularly aligning FAO’s strategy for Small Island Developing States (SIDS)—more aptly termed Large Ocean States—with WUR’s initiatives in the Caribbean.

Throughout his career, Marco has held various leadership and advisory roles across multiple departments within WUR. His expertise spans agri-related operational research, logistics, ICT, and green education, providing him with a deep understanding of both WUR’s internal operations and broader global challenges. At the senior level, he has served as a Manager, Managing Consultant, Service Manager, and Account Manager, in addition to multiple tenures as Chairman of the Participation Council.

As Manager of International Relations for Oceania, he is dedicated to forging partnerships in the region that enhance WUR’s global impact through collaborative solutions.

Lastly, as an expert in strategic partnerships and collaboration, he remains focused on the effective delivery of services and the management of key WUR accounts. These include national and governmental entities such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture, as well as private companies and international organizations like FAO
