dr.ir. N (Negin) Salimi
Assistant ProfessorNegin Salimi is an Assistant Professor at the Business Management and Organization group of Wageningen University and Research. She earned her Ph.D. in Innovation Management from Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), the Netherlands. Prior to joining WUR, she held postdoctoral research positions at the Economics of Technology and Innovations section of TU Delft’s Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management, and the Science-Based Business group at Leiden University.
She specializes in entrepreneurial decision-making, sustainable entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial ecosystems, the circular economy, technology and innovation management, and sustainability. Her expertise lies in leveraging advanced quantitative methodologies—including statistical analysis and decision-making models—to address complex challenges within these domains.
Moving beyond traditional descriptive research in entrepreneurship, she employs prescriptive approaches such as Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) to generate practical, data-driven solutions. These methods enable entrepreneurs to systematically evaluate trade-offs and navigate uncertainties, empowering them to make decisions that align economic success with social and environmental sustainability.
Her research uniquely bridges micro-level decision-making processes with macro-level impacts through an integrated, multi-level framework. This approach offers valuable insights into how entrepreneurial choices shape broader sustainable development outcomes, fostering innovations that support both venture performance and long-term societal value.
She has published her research in high-impact journals, including the International Journal of Production Economics, Journal of Technology Transfer, Science and Public Policy, Scientometrics, Technovation, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, and Journal of Environmental Management.
She also contributes to the FOEBE+ project, funded by the Erasmus+ programme, which equips bioeconomy students with sustainable entrepreneurship skills to accelerate the European bioeconomy sector.
In addition to her research, she teaches entrepreneurship courses and supervises Bachelor, Master, and Ph.D. candidates, fostering the development of future leaders in sustainable entrepreneurship.
