Researcher

Sida Liu is a hydrologist and groundwater modeling specialist born in Beijing, China. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Groundwater Science and Engineering from China University of Geoscience (Beijing) in 2014. She then pursued her Master's degree with distinction in Hydrology and Water Resources from IHE Delft Institute for Water Education. During her master's degree, she gained in-depth knowledge of various hydrological processes and developed strong skills in numerical modeling.

After completing her Master's degree, Sida continued her PhD research in IHE Delft.  Her research focused on simulating groundwater flow, solute transport, and heat transport and the interaction between groundwater with surface water. Sida's research interests also include the modeling of the impact of climate change on the water cycle.

In 2022, Sida joined Wageningen University and Research as a postdoctoral researcher in the WSG group and she is now working on the GROW project (GROW: GROundWater sustainability and crop production - WUR).
