dr. WJ (Wolfram) Simon MSc
OnderzoekerWolfram Simon is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Earth Systems and Global Change Group (ESC) at Wageningen University and Research (WUR) in the Netherlands. His model-based research focuses on assessing the current food system based on health and environmental indicators and identifying optimistic future food system scenarios from a national to global scale. He completed his PhD thesis titled "Food System Redesigns for Human and Planetary Health - Circularity Meets the Protein Transition" with the designation 'cum laude' at WUR in 2024. In his master's program at WUR, he focused on analyzing sustainable and climate-smart agricultural systems and ecological modeling. In his master's thesis, he went to Bangladesh to explore weather and market information networks using social network analysis. In 2017, Wolfram earned his bachelor's degree in sustainable agriculture from the University of Kassel in Germany with honors and received the Helmut Claas Scholarship for his bachelor's thesis on 'Insects as food and feed in Europe.' Before his academic training, he completed a two-year practical farming apprenticeship specializing in organic production systems in his home country, Switzerland.
