Basic Dutch 3 follows on from Basic Dutch 2 and is particularly suitable for students who want to improve their Dutch for social purposes.

Basic Dutch 3 is a practical course. The focus is on oral communication in Dutch. Subjects are more general than personal, for example: education and work and talking about the past and your future plans. In addition, your vocabulary will be expanded and you will train your listening and reading skills. Basic grammar will be repeated and expanded to a slightly higher level than in part 1 and 2 but will still be subordinate to communication skills and vocabulary. At the end of the course there will be a small test.
This course runs for 14 classes*. There will be a class of 1.5 hours, once a week. In addition to the classes, you will be spending 2 or 3 hours on homework each week, in order to attain the desired level.
Minimum number of students: 8
Maximum number of students: 18
* Any classes cancelled due to illness of the teacher will be made up at the end of the course.
Dates and times
Basic Dutch 3 is offered in February and September each year. Next round of courses will start in February 2020.

Certification and exam
You receive a Wageningen in’to Languages certificate upon completion of the course. If you do not pass the exam, you can take a resit after the course. This costs EUR 25, which is not included in the course fees.

Prior to registration
For Basic Dutch for students part 3 some prior knowledge is needed. If you have a certificate stating you successfully passed the part 2 test, you will be admitted to part 3 without an intake interview. Students that have prior knowledge of the Dutch language and do not have a certificate can make an appointment for an interview, in order to determine which level is appropriate.
