Are you an international student at Wageningen University & Research? Would you like to speak Dutch with your fellow students and your teachers or carry on a basic conversation with your neighbours? Then our Social Dutch courses are just the thing for you!
This course is suitable for students who want to learn Dutch for social purposes.
- Entry level: Halfway to A1 (CEFR)
- Level on completion: A1 (CEFR)
The main objective of this course is to learn to communicate in Dutch. You will learn how to introduce yourself, exchange personal information, order in cafés and restaurants, buy and pay in shops, make appointments, as well as forms of address, formal versus informal use of the language, information on transportation, and typical Dutch culture. Grammar is secondary to speaking and vocabulary building. Only basic grammar will be treated, such as the main sentence structure and the conjugation of verbs in the present and past tense.
Social Dutch II runs for 15 classes. The course meets twice a week in the evening for 1.5 hours. You should expect to spend 2 to 3 hours on homework each week.
Any classes cancelled due to illness of the teacher will be made up at the end of the course.
