This sub-project will start in 2021 and will respond to the current discussion about the use of plastic packaging in the fresh produce sector. A newly developed biobased film will be used as MA packaging. An important condition is that this film must be completely in line with the philosophy of the circular economy. A major advantage is that this packaging will ensure a longer shelf life because temperature and relative humidity fluctuations in the chain can be absorbed. This dynamic packaging will be optimised for different types of fruit and vegetables, and the possibilities for further scaling the production of this film up are being explored.
