Feasability study "insects for sustainable animal feed"

Because of a growing global human population a protein-shortage seems inevitable. This creates a growing demand for animal protein, but the diet of these animals, which also has to contain proteins, is not always sustainable.

Plant protein is also used in animal feed while this can better be used for human consumption. An alternative is to process insects into the animal feed. Insects can easily be produced on animal manure or organic waste.

The goal of this project is to identify the opportunities and barriers for insects as animal feed, identifying business opportunities and make knowledge available to the animal feed- and insect chain.
