Pathogen-microbiome interactions at specific niches inside the plant

This project studies the interaction between plant-associated bacteria and fungal plant pathogens during host colonization. The research is specifically focussed on the leaf apoplast and the xylem vessels. By limiting the site of investigation, we can specifically isolate the microbiome of these niches without having to deal with the multitude of bacteria that are found on the outside of the plant or in the soil around its roots.
