Planning in the North Sea (MASPNOSE)

The sea is probably the last unplanned part of the Netherlands with a large planning task. The amount of (inter) national laws and regulations governing the sea increases.

A growing body of actors, governments and non-government organizations are involved in the sea and the future development of sea areas. This means that planning issues increasingly play a role at sea. Important lessons can be learned from the experience of planning and governance in the country.

The goal of this project is to learn from land planning to generate maritime activities on the North Sea.

After an initial exploration of the lessons of land at sea, it appeared that particularly around monitoring and evaluation tools many insights were generated for spatial planning at sea. In cooperation with the Maritime Spatial Planning in the North Sea (MASPNOSE) project a toolkit is developed.
