Project
QBOL/Q-detect
Diagnosis in the field of plant-pathogenic quarantine organisms takes place more and more with the aid of molecular keys. For a large number of quarantine organisms, however, sensitive and rapid detection and identification methods have not yet been developed.
Moreover, the required DNA / RNA sequence data, which distinguish between the quarantaineganisme (Q-organism) and its closely related species, have not yet been determined.
The purpose of the two EU projects, QBOL and Q-detect, which are closely fit together, are as follows:
- Develop DNA barcodes for Q-organisms to distinguish them from their close relatives and include them in an accessible database.
- Develop a DNA bank.
- Develop good and sensitive detection techniques that can be deployed on-site, based on these DNA barcodes.
