Risks and opportunities animal byproducts

Balancing the risks and seeking opportunities are important factors in policy. In the regulations for animal by-products, particularly risks to animal- and public health are of relevance, but also other societal risks such as social acceptance and environmental risks. But there are also opportunities, for example, innovations and closing of the chain.

Objectives of this project are 1) to get insight into existing (innovative) possibilities for applications and processing of animal products, 2) identify the opportunities and risks that are attached, 3) examine to what extent the current legislation in the field of animal by-products are of hindrance and 4) whether these regulations are in accordance with current scientific insights.
