Project

Teacher professional development to develop high quality assessment programmes in Prevocational Education (VMBO)

Since 2016 (and oblidged by 2018) new examination programmes, describing the end qualifications, have been prescribed the Ministry of Education for all Dutch Prevocational Education (VMBO) programmes. This change places much more responsibility by teachers and schools to develop their own school-based examination programmes and assure their quality. In collaboration with several assessment experts from representative institutions in the Netherlands (CINOP, CITO, SLO, HAN and WUR/ECS) and commissioned by Stichting Platvorm VMBO and the Ministry of Education, a national teacher professional development programme is developed consisting of four days in which teachers and team leaders learn to develop new, high quality assessments fitting the new end qualifications and using a “quality cycle of assessment” perspective.
