VET-ENHANCE - A study on the implementation of veterinary guidelines

As a result of the intensive social and political debate about the use of antibiotics in livestock farming, various initiatives have been taken to reduce the use of antibiotics in livestock farming and to strive for the most careful application of antibiotics when necessary. One of the initiatives to achieve these goals was the development of guidelines for veterinary practice. However, an implementation strategy to support veterinarians in using the established guidelines is not yet available.

The VET-ENHANCE study is about an implementation strategy for veterinary guidelines.

The research group consists of Prof. Jaap Wagenaar, Prof. Emely de Vet, Dr. David Speksnijder and Isaura Wayop MSc. Isaura has been a ruminant and equine veterinarian in North Holland for five years and has been a PhD candidate at Utrecht University since September 2018. The research group is supported by employees of the Institute for Responsible Use of Medicine, the Julius Center for Health Sciences and Primary Care of the Utrecht Medical Center and the Royal Dutch Society for Veterinary Medicine.
