Waterinfiltratie met drukdrains en greppels voor veenbehoud en emissiereductie : Deelonderzoek ‘natte veeteelt’ in het Innovatie Programma Veen (2018-2021)

In the context of the Peat Innovation Program, the effect of pump-controlled submerged drains (pressure drains or AWIS) and trench infiltration on the groundwater table was investigated in 2018 to 2021. Submerged drains lie below ditch level and can both drain and infiltrate. In the case of pressure drains,additional facilities increase the pressure difference between surface water level and groundwater table and this enhances the functioning of the drains. On the test plots where the pressure drainage system functioned well, the groundwater level could be kept at a significantly higher level during the growing season with pressure drains. This could also be achieved with trench infiltration, but the measure was less effective than pressure drains. Both measures have the potential to reduce ground level subsidence and greenhouse gasemissions.
