
Technologies for ascertaining quality precisely
Companies that work with fresh produce measure and monitor the quality of their products every day. This happens during and after the harvest, but also during storage and/or processing. Determining quality is often a job for humans, not machines or algorithms, and the experience of inspectors and the results of measurements play an important role in drawing up the right storage and marketing plan.
Wageningen Food & Biobased Research is working on technologies that will allow these measurements to be carried out with greater speed, objectivity and accuracy.
Quality measurements by robots and sensors
We are working on the development of robots and optical sensors that can measure quality without damaging produce. The technological developments are moving rapidly in agri-food robotics in particular.
