PhD Excursion 2013
In February 2013 the PhD students and two professors of the Laboratory of Physical Chemistry and Colloid Science went for a two week trip to California. The main goal of this study trip was to exchange knowledge and experiences with the colleagues abroad, but also to get a grasp of the research culture overseas. During the course of our journey we have been visiting some of the most important research sites in Western United States, among them prestigious universities like Stanford, UCLA, UCSB, and Caltech as well as private research centers of multinational companies like IBM and Bruker.
Throughout the trip we experienced an intensive exchange of ideas during presentation sessions and informal discussions. As a result of that, we could easily find common interest points and discuss about possible collaboration to complement our on-going research projects. The trip has also stipulated new ideas for interesting future research in our laboratory. Overall, we are very pleased with the outcome of this trip.
During our visit we have been welcomed by the host institutions in an very friendly and professional manner. We would like to thank all those groups involved, for their time and commitment to host us.
