Education of the Division of Human Nutrition and Health
Education in Human Nutrition and Health is organised at the level of BSc (3 years), MSc (2 years) and PhD (4 years). At this moment about 750 students are enrolled in the BSc and MSc programmes and about 90 in the PhD programme.
Apart from Dutch students, a substantial number of international students are enrolled in the MSc and PhD programmes. The BSc programme Nutrition and Health (Dutch: Voeding en Gezondheid) and the MSc Nutrition and Health are both accredited programmes. There is a special website (in Dutch) for high school students who are considering doing a BSc in 'Voeding en Gezondheid' at Wageningen University & Research.
BSc programme Nutrition and Health (Dutch: Voeding en Gezondheid)
This programme is taught primarily in the Dutch language with some exceptions (please enquire). It comprises courses and practical training in the basic sciences as well as nutrition related to health; metabolism and genomics; epidemiology and public health, pharmacology, and sensory science and eating behaviour. Students who successfully complete the BSc in nutrition or equivalent are eligible to enter the master's programme.
MSc programme Nutrition and Health
The two-year MSc programme Nutrition and Health is entirely taught in English. It comprises courses, individual scientific research work that is presented in a master's thesis and an internship in a public or private organisation. This MSc programme attracts students from many countries around the world. For interested students, more information on the MSc programme, which offers several different specialisations, can be found on the website of the MSc programme. Registered students are referred to the study supervisor for composing their individualised MSc programme. More information on course subscription and practical regulations can be found at the student secretariat. MSc students who have successfully finished their studies may apply for registration as epidemiologist or nutritionist in the Netherlands.
MSc specialisation Nutritional Epidemiology and Public Health by distance learning
This online programme focuses on a deeper understanding of epidemiology and public health, from a nutrition perspective. Students will gain insights into epidemiological concepts, application of statistics, population health, and will develop skills that are all needed to design, conduct, or evaluate epidemiological research. In addition, students will learn how to apply epidemiological research in public health.
As this programme will be online, students can study the lectures, do the assignments, and take the exam for each course within this programme at a place that suits them with online support from our academic staff.
This online programme is part time (20 hours week) with a total duration of four years (120 credits). MSc students who successfully finished the programme will obtain an official MSc degree.
