Wageningen Light Microscopy Centre (WLMC)

The aim of the Wageningen Light Microscopy Centre (WLMC) is to facilitate and optimize the imaging part of your research. We do this by providing access to advanced light microscopy and sharing expertise regarding sample preparation, imaging modalities, data storage and image analysis. We aim to increase your efficiency and provide free training and high-end imaging facilities to acquire reliable data at the lowest cost.

Reservation

  • Make a personal account in Booking using SURF-context login (WUR-users).
  • Contact N. de Ruijter or E. Limpens for free training and account activation.
  • Costs: Your given project number will be charged. Ask your supervisor which project number must be used. Note that all WUR facilities are meant to support you, they work on cost recovery base but have no aim to profit. Remove your reservation at the latest 24 hrs. in advance if you will not make use of it.

Instrument use

  • Using instruments is only allowed after instruction by an operator.
  • Using instruments is only allowed after a reservation.
  • NOTE: Outside regular working hours (8-18h) the Radix building and the rooms with WLMC equipment are closed to users from outside Radix

Troubleshooting

  • If there are problems always contact the instrument managers, daily supervisors and leave a note for the next user
  • Describe problem (and solution) in the logbook.

Location

  • The equipment of WLMC is available in RADIX building (107) in Wageningen and housed by the cluster Plant Developmental Biology (PDB) in Plant Sciences Group, but supports all users from all Science Groups and industries.

We can advise and assist you in:

  • The proper experimental set-up to answer your research question.
  • Sample preparation to get maximal signal/noise and least imaging artifacts.
  • Selection of the most appropriate microscope for your specific needs.
  • Acquisition of data such that they serve your needs and can be easily digitally processed.
