Alirhabditis

The genus Alirhabditis Suryawanshi, 1971 belongs to the bacteria-feeding order Rhabditida and the complex suborder Cephalobina. This rare genus includes only two described species and has been found so far in Asia, South-America and Europe, all in terrestrial habitats. Typical for Alirhabditis is the very long and narrow tubular shaped mouth cavity (stoma) and the absences of any projections (cephalic and labial probolae) in the head region. Also the buccal elements are not recognizable. The tail is long, tapering and filiform.
