Anomyctus xenurus
Anomyctus xenurus is a relatively small soil inhabiting nematode which, in the Netherlands, occurs in dune sand. It is a remarkable nematode, easily recognized by its swollen disc-shaped lip region. Males are common, the posterior gonad of females is reduced and serves as storage organ for sperm. Although direct evidence is lacking, we assume that it feeds on soil fungi.
