Project
BIOLOC
BIOLOC provides an important contribution to “Missie B: Klimaatneutrale landbouw en voedselproductie”, and specifically to “MMIP B6: Productie en gebruik van biomassa” – “Deelprogramma 3. Koolstof als grondstof is volledig biobased”, where the transition from a linear fossil-based towards a circular biobased economy is supported. In BIOLOC, less developed regions in Europe can learn concerning advanced biobased solutions from more developed ones, like those in the Netherlands; however, the thought is that Dutch regions potentially can learn also from less developed countries concerning less-advanced all-inclusive bio-based solutions in which also socially disadvantaged/marginalized groups can be involved and take advantages of biobased opportunities (this often is common practice and the only biobased activities in those countries).
The aim of BIOLOC is to advance the role and impact of biobased and social innovation to revitalise European local communities to accelerate the all-inclusive transition to a resource-efficient and circular biobased production and consumption system. BIOLOC will blend methodological work with c actions focused in 12 European regions (IT, , ES, DE, GR, BG, SK, SL, HR, HU, RO, CZ) that have been selected based on their circular biobased economy (CBE) deployment potentials. BIOLOC has the following specific objectives:
- to raise awareness;
- to revitalise local economies;
- to advance inclusive business models;
- to increase opportunities;
- to valorise knowledge and enhance capacities;
- to sustain innovation ecosystems.
BIOLOC will address non-technical challenges from the perspective of local development to elaborate on concepts and solutions that will have a positive effect on communities by fostering a participatory and inclusive approach to developing resilient innovative biobased activities open to the contribution of socially disadvantaged or marginalized groups. BIOLOC prompt and drive the establishment of permanent public-private multi-stakeholder communities-of-practice/deployment HUBS that will pioneer social trialogue on an innovative and inclusive CBE as a leveraging factor for sustainable and resilient local development in the broader context of the New Green Deal.
