Project
Voedselprijzenbarometer
The Food Price Monitor was developed following an earlier study into the costs and effects of monitoring food prices. The House of Parliament has expressed the wish to have regular insight into the development of prices in the food chains.
The Food Price Monitor offers insight into price developments at three levels (primary farm, processing and consumption) in seven food chains: bread, potatoes, dairy products, eggs, poultry, pork and beef. Consumer prices of fruit and vegetables are also monitored. Developments are updated monthly and explained bimonthly.
The information is based on the price indices of agricultural commodities recorded by Wageningen Economic Research and the producer price indices (PPI) and consumer price indices (CPI) calculated by Statistics Netherlands. Together, they provide a transparent picture of the price developments in the food chains. The Food Price Monitor provides up-to-date information as part of the website www.agrimatie.nl.
