Seminar on “The position of the farmer in the supply chain”
The Dutch representation and the WUR (Roel Jongeneel and Ana Gonzalez Martinez) are together with the OECD in Paris organizing a seminar on “The position of the farmer in the supply chain” at February 1.
With the increasing requests from societies to agriculture and the food system to improve its sustainability the position the farmer in the food chain has gained even more relevance since to allow and help farmers to deliver on this point creates the need for a proper remuneration of sustainable production and sustainable farming practices. The aim of the seminar is to increase the insight into ways to support the future ‘earning model’ of farmers by making sustainable production attractive and profitable and learn from the knowledge available from the OECD and from different promising cases in OECD member countries as well as from their policy approaches in this regard. With respect to the latter also reflection on the roles and responsibilities of the public and private sector will be a topic for discussion.
The one-day (hybrid) seminar will be held in Paris at the Chateau de la Muette at the OECD premisses. The programme contains planned contributions from The Netherlands (Aart Kees Evers Min EZK; Roel Jongeneel (AEP and WEcR); Robert Baaijen (WEnR), Krijn Poppe, RLI), the OECD (Koen Deconinck), and OECD and EU member countries (among which Finland, Belgium, Spain, Latvia).
