Best Paper Award for ELS colleagues at ICSES 2022
ELS colleagues (Mohammadreza Farrokhnia, Omid Noroozi, Yvette Baggen, and Harm J. A. Biemans) have received the Best Paper Award for their oral presentation of the paper entitled “Sparking creativity in entrepreneurship courses: Investigating the effect of hybrid brainstorming sessions on business opportunity identification outcomes”
This paper focuses on exploring the effect of hybrid brainstorming sessions (i.e., Individual/Group/Individual) in entrepreneurship courses on individual idea-generation skills outside the group, a possibility labelled “group-to-individual transfer”. The findings indicated that the group-to-individual transfer of business idea-generation skills can be facilitated in the hybrid brainstorming sessions. In particular, the findings revealed that the participants generated fewer comprehensible business ideas after a group idea generation in a hybrid brainstorming session; however, a significantly higher portion of the generated ideas was concrete compared to the individual idea generation before the group work. More importantly, on average, the business ideas generated in the individual phase after group work were more innovative.
The ICSES has been organized annually since 2015 and is affiliated with the International Society for Technology, Education, and Science (ISTES). The ICSES 2022 was held in Antalya, Turkey on November 10-13, 2022, and is supported by The University of New Orleans and Indiana University in the US and Leiden University in the Netherlands.
