International Sociological Association
The goal of the International Sociological Association (ISA), is to represent sociologists everywhere, regardless of their school of thought, scientific approaches or ideological opinion, and to advance sociological knowledge throughout the world. The ISA has an Environment and Society Committee.
European Sociological Association
The European Sociological Association (ESA) aims to facilitate sociological research, teaching and communication on European issues, and to give sociology a voice in European affairs. The European Sociological Association has a research group on environment and society. During the bi-annual meeting of the ESA this research group organizes a large set of research sessions.
Social Science Network on Energy and Environment Research
In the Netherlands social science research on the environment is brought together by the SWOME, the Social Science Network on Energy and Environment Research.
American Sociological Association
Within the American Sociological Association, some 400 environmental sociologists are brought together under the section Environment and Technology. During the annual ASA meeting they organize a variety of sessions and roundtables.

Within the International Studies Association, the Environmental Studies Section brings together researchers who base their work in current international relations and comparative politics debates.

European Consortium for Political Research
More focusing on European Issues is the European Consortium for Political Research and its standing committee on green politics.
