Epigenetica

The transition of current linear production chains in primary agriculture to climate positive and circular production circles requires support by robust and integrated tools. These tools need to be fit for purpose and able to show impacts of scenarios regarding circularity at a comprehensive level of aspects (environment, economic), levels (spatial scales), and stakeholders. Furthermore, they need to be linked to a well-developed conceptual framework of informed-scenario development, taking into account stakeholder needs, multiple problem-aspects (e.g. trade-offs) and different uncertainties (e.g. w.r.t. policy and technology).

Abstract

The project develops s an integrated toolbox of WR-models, which is related to a conceptual framework regarding climate and circularity, linking societal challenges, policy demands, and stakeholder concerns. This toolbox comprises different scales (process, farm, sector, Netherlands, international context), and nutrients (e.g. N, P, including C) aimed at analysing and supporting the transformation of current linear production chains into circular systems, with a focus on primary production. The toolbox is linked to a conceptual framework integrating storyline and scenario development, while taking into account policy maker and other stakeholder needs. The toolbox is applied for scenario analysis covering the mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions up to 2050 and the achievement of circularity objectives up to 2030.
