The field-application of manure is a relatively large source of ammonia emission and is associated with uncertainties. Weather conditions, soil and manure characteristics, developments in application techniques, and the use of different application methods play an important role. Taking into account these factors will lead to a better assessment of the national and regional ammonia emission. Models will be developed to assess the influence of different weather, soil and manure characteristics on the ammonia emission, based on available data. Experimental research will be started on the assessment of the emission of processed manure. Furthermore, the use of different kinds of manure application methods will be monitored.
