In a significant step towards addressing the pressing challenges faced by Dhaka’s food system, the Dhaka Food Agenda 2041 was officially launched during the Urban Food Futures Conference in Dhaka. This visionary roadmap aims to meet the challenge of providing the city's residents with sufficient, safe, nutritious, and sustainably-sourced food, fostering the necessary pathways for change for sustainable and resilient food systems in 2041.
The Dhaka Food Agenda 2041, developed by the Government of Bangladesh, with technical expertise of FAO and Wageningen University and Research, seeks to combat food insecurity, promote equitable access to nutritious food, and reduce the environmental impact of food production. This landmark initiative reflects the commitment of the stakeholders to tackle the complex issues surrounding food systems and pave the way for a prosperous future for all residents of Dhaka.
Five key directions
At its core, the agenda addresses five key directions for action.
The Dhaka Food Agenda 2041 places a strong emphasis on promoting the consumption of healthy and nutritious food among the city's residents.
