What future is foreseen for the Dutch development sector? What shifts have occurred as a result of the Covid crisis? ‘We need international cooperation now more than ever. The climate and Covid crises show that we are all connected globally and that combating poverty and inequality is crucial. There’s an important role for Wageningen University & Research in connecting fundamental to applied research to help solve these issues’, says Hedwig Bruggeman, Business Unit Manager of Wageningen Centre for Development Innovation.

In a special issue of Vice Versa Magazine, Bruggeman and her colleague Bart de Steenhuijsen Piters (senior scientist food systems at Wageningen Economic Research) look ahead to the future of the Dutch development sector. The issue also focuses on inspiring examples of WUR’s ‘knowledge in action’ programs.
