Identification of factors in different smallholder-plantation models capable to improve smallholders agronomic, economic, social and environmental performance (OIL PALM PhD project 1)

Learn from the success of the Ophir project and constraints in the other models to propose technico-institutional improvements in major models of smallholders in oil palm to achieve sustainable intensification, improving smallholders livelihoods and their control over production and revenues.

In this subproject the factors in the different smallholder-plantation models in Indonesia will be identified that are capable of improving smallholder agronomic, economic, social and environmental performance.

Aim

The aim of this project is to determine what technical and institutional barriers exist that prevent smallholders from achieving higher productivity and how these can be overcome.
