The ambitious aim of APECS is to stimulate and develop polar research, education and communication. By doing so the networks shapes the future of polar research.
On 29 June 2012 APECS Netherlands was officially launched during a kick-off meeting in Hilversum. A variety of young polar researchers were present and made plans for future activities. In addition, APECS Belgium, The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) and the Willem Barentsz Polar Institute were represented and presented their activities and possibilities for cooperation within APECS.
APECS Netherlands plans to start activities for young polar scientists. It wants to become a platform in the Netherlands to join forces between different universities and research institutes. IMARES Wageningen UR, supports this new initiative and looks forward to start up these new alliances.
