EuroDairy
EuroDairy is a new network to connect dairy farmers wishing to improve the performance of their farms, and to provide a more sustainable future for their farms and families. This comes at a time of unprecedented challenges for the sector following the abolition of milk quotas.
EuroDairy spans 14 member states, encompassing 40% of dairy farmers, 45% of cows and 60% of European milk production. Twenty partners, well connected to industry, are drawn from emerging as well as mature milk producing regions of Europe. Further collaborations, notably with European Dairy Farmers, increase the impact of the network.
EuroDairy will focus on real issues affecting future sustainability:
- Socio-economic resilience - in the face of greater price volatility.
- Resource efficiency in the use of increasingly expensive inputs, which also impact on the environment.
- Animal care - innovative management practices which also reduce the need for antibiotic use.
- Biodiversity - combining care for the environment with profitable dairy farming.
