KASSIM: Interactive Learning Tool for Education and Practice
KASSIM is an online interactive tool developed for educational purposes in the field of climate control within greenhouses. The tool is designed with the latest advancements in climate control strategies and greenhouse technology in mind. This includes research conducted for the Dutch innovation program "Kas als Energiebron" which aims to reduce the energy consumption of Dutch greenhouse horticulture. Additionally, it incorporates developments related to (semi-) closed greenhouses, greenhouse covering materials, screens, and lighting.
How does it work?
The model behind KASSIM is the greenhouse simulation model KASPRO, a dynamic model developed and validated using practical data. This model is extensively used in both scientific and practical research and is continuously validated and expanded based on practical data and relevant new developments, including those related to the new way of growing "Het Nieuwe Telen". The model features a virtual climate computer that allows for the simulation of realistic climate control.
For whom?
KASSIM can be utilized for education at different levels in the fields of climate control, energy, and climate in greenhouse horticulture. The greenhouse horticulture sector, including growers, is also welcome to use KASSIM to enhance and broaden their knowledge.
KASSIM is developed for green education and the greenhouse horticulture sector with funding from LTO Glaskracht Nederland, and the ministries of Economic Affairs and Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality.
