During the Greentech in Amsterdam, the results of the Carbon LED research programme will be presented in the Climate, water & energy theatre on Wednesday 13 June 2018, 15 h.

The Carbon LED research has produced impressive results. When tomato growers would use the possibilities to make optimal ‘light recipes’ based on LED light spectra combined with new optimised tomato varieties, their tomato crop may produce up to 25% more. LED lighting can reduce the carbon footprint of tomatoes by approximately 45% The results of Carbon LED also show that breeding companies may be able to breed varieties that specifically perform well under LED lighting.

The research of Carbon LED is financed by Climate KIC, the main European knowledge and innovation community, working to accelerate the transition to a zero-carbon economy. The research was carried out in a partnership of Bayer Crop Science, Philips Lighting, StartLife (NL), INRA (F) and of Wageningen University & Research.

Three short videos

The results of the research are also presented in three short videos, presented at www.wur.eu/carbonled.
