Food systems e-course 2024

Wageningen Social & Economic Research, in collaboration with the Netherlands Food Partnership and the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs invite you to participate in the e-course on Food Systems 2025, facilitated by Wageningen University & Research. The 6th edition of this e-course is free of charge and designed for professionals working in food systems topics in low- and middle-income countries. It’s a unique chance to engage and exchange with 800 other professionals: policy makers from national governments, professionals working in development organisations, NGOs, private sector, and knowledge and education institutions from all over the world. If you are interested, you can register below.

This edition, we have an option for collective learning.

Many earlier participants appreciated the flexible set-up with self-paced learning, a wide choice of content and the weekly plenary webinars. This year, we added some new features to guide collective learning for teams and organisations:

  • Learning routes for learners interested in different themes such as among others: socio-economics, food & nutrition security and biodiversity & environmental sustainability
  • The option for organisations to join the e-course and learn as a team. The most active teams will be invited for follow-up training sessions to apply food system thinking in practice within their institution.

Whether as an individual or as a team, the e-course offers ample opportunities to dive into food system thinking and apply this in practice. Read the inspirational blogs from earlier participants here.

Get a head start in addressing food systems challenges

The food systems approach is increasingly being used to understand how food is produced and consumed, with an optimal outcome for human health, social justice, economic endeavour and the preservation of planetary resources. The UN Food Systems Summits (New York, Rome) and the attention for food systems in the COP16 in Cali and the COP29 in Baku show the importance and relevance of the concept for policy and practice. Many low and middle-income countries have adopted national pathways for food system transformation. Many stakeholders apply food system thinking in their agrifood programmes.
