Conference

6th European Meeting of the International Society for Microbial Electrochemistry and Technology (EU-ISMET)

Following the success of EU-ISMET5, the sixth European Meeting of the International Society for Microbial Electrochemistry and Technology (ISMET) will be back with a live audience. We encourage scientists, pioneering and established industries, governmental organisations, and other stakeholders that are interested to get more connected to the world of microbial electrochemical technology and participate in this conference. With the EU-ISMET6 conference, we like to contribute to the development of an inspiring ISMET community.

Organised by Environmental Technology
Date

Wed 6 September 2023 until Fri 8 September 2023

Venue Wageningen International Congress Centre (WICC), Wageningen (NL)

EU-ISMET6

The meeting will allow you to meet and interact with leading experts in the field of METs and present your research in a unique setting featuring lively keynote presentations, interactive sessions, poster pitches, oral presentations, and social activities.

The meeting is linked to a special issue of Bioelectrochemistry. Bioelectrochemistry aims to collect papers from the meeting and publish a Virtual Special Issue (VSI) in December 2023.

Scope and themes

Scope

The EU-ISMET6 meeting will feature the latest breakthroughs and innovations in microbial electrochemistry research and applications of bio electrochemical systems, covering topics from fundamentals to scale-up processes, electro bioremediation, electro microbiology, resource recovery, and environmental sustainability of METs, among others. Therefore, we will cover the several aspects and scientific disciplines needed for studying microbial electrochemical technologies, such as electrochemistry, biology, environmental sciences, biotechnology, materials science, design and process engineering.

Furthermore, as METs are becoming more mature, we will devote a session to their commercialisation and environmental sustainability and another to their associated social aspects.

Topics

  • Bioremediation, resource recovery and water treatment
  • Extracellular electron transfer processes
  • Electrochemistry of microorganisms and enzymes
  • Material science and reactor design
  • Microbial electrochemical synthesis and electro-fermentation
  • Microbial Electrochemical Technology (MET) based sensor technology
  • Electrochemical, biological & systemic analysis of METs
  • Scale-up of MET for commercialization
  • Novel Applications of METs
  • Other topics / General Discussion
