WUR Library has started Evidence Based Acquisition (EBA) of ebooks with the American Chemical Society (ACS). Through this win-win collaboration, WUR students and staff now have access to all ACS ebooks from the Symposium Series and the Advances in Chemistry Series for 12 months.

What does it mean for me?

ACS is a leading publisher in all fields of chemistry, chemical engineering and related disciplines. During the EBA program’s 12-month term, you can access the ACS ebooks from the Symposium Series and the Advances in Chemistry Series. This access covers over 1,600 ebooks published from 1949 to 2021. Ebooks released during the term of the EBA will also become available to WUR users in 2022. You can find and access the ACS ebooks through WUR Library Search.

How does  it work?

At the end of the term ACS will provide usage data of individual titles by WUR staff. Based on these statistics the Library will select 36 books to permanently retain in order to meet the minimum purchase commitment. Oher titles can be purchased at additional costs. When the term ends, we’ll inform you about the program's outcome.

Models like Evidence Based Acquisition and Patron Driven Acquisition support the Library in making data-driven decisions and help us to purchase the resources that WUR students and researchers need.
