Energy-based low carbon development in rural China: the role of households

This PhD research is aimed to explore the possibilities for low carbon rural development in China by examining household energy production and consumption practices and their potential for change.

Specifically, objectives of this study are:
  • To analyse the current rural household energy utilization situation and evaluate its impacts on rural greenhouse gas emissions;
  • To examine the key factors and dynamics shaping and affecting household energy production and consumption practices;
  • To explore possible policy options and strategies for stimulating the transition of rural energy systems into pathways of low carbon development.
