The collaborating Applied Research Organisations, united in the TO2 federation, have released the very first edition of their so-called impact report. This report is included in the magazine TO2MORROW. In this magazine, organisations cite examples of innovative solutions that contribute to a sustainable, clean, healthy and safe future for the Netherlands. The TO2 federation is made up of Deltares, MARIN, NLR, TNO and Wageningen University & Research.

Some examples cited in the magazine are: The use of superfluous sustainable energy to operate pumps on reclaimed land, storm proofing floating solar panels, the development of 100% vegetable-based meat-substitutes that mimic the exact structure of meat, drones designed to independently perform repairs on ocean-based windmills and apprehending criminals operating on the dark web.

Important role

In her preface, State Secretary of Economic Affairs and Climate, Mona Keijzer, writes: ‘Societal challenges are not easily solved. They require a broad approach from the government, knowledge and educational institutions as well as the trade and industry sector. In the Netherlands, the TO2 institutes, for which I hold system responsibility, play and important role in joining together these parties through their shared interests.’

A considerable part of this research is government funded. In this magazine, the TO2 institutes reveal the results of these investments. The federation aims to release report annualy.
