Kees Slingerland was speaker at the opening academic year 2010-2011.
Kees Slingerland, Managing Director of the Environmental Sciences Group (ESG) of Wageningen UR, will focus on the beauty and richness nature offers to people and the research and teaching activities ESG is carrying out to help make this possible.
Kees Slingerland studied animal husbandry in the tropics with a minor in economy at Wageningen University. He pursued his career by working as advisor and employee for the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV), as well as project manager for Nehem Intl., a leading consultancy promoting international development. Subsequently, he served as director of the flower auctioning in Bleiswijk (NL). In 2000, Kees Slingerland was nominated member of the board of directors of Arcadis Nederland, where he focused on integration approaches and entrepreneurship within the company.
In 2007 he was nominated general director of the Environmental Sciences Group (ESG), one of the five sciences groups being part of Wageningen University and Research Center (WUR). ESG employs currently approximately 1000 persons and is composed of institutions such as Alterra, ILRI, ISRIC, and the Department Environmental Sciences of Wageningen University.
