Professor Arthur van Zanten, Professor by special appointment at the Nutritional Biology chair group of Wageningen University & Research, Internist-intensivist at Gelderse Vallei Hospital.

  • Speaks about the influence of food on metabolic stress reactions against the background of these pandemic times. Research in combination with patient feedback show the big influence that adequate (medical) nutrition can play in the recovery of intensive care patients, shortly after recovery and also long term. It is important to monitor and influence nutritional behaviour for a longer period of time to improve quality of life and reduce overall health costs.
