Exciting year commemorating Wageningen University's 95th anniversary
Ninety-five years ago, the Landbouwhogeschool (Netherlands Agricultural College) was legally established as an academic institution. This event is being celebrated throughout 2013.
Alumni
Wageningen University would like to invite its alumni to share in this special anniversary. To this end, throughout the year the university is organising various alumni activities, including a reunion and a 'Welcome back to Wageningen' day on Friday 14 June 2013.
Various regional alumni gatherings are also held annually. As part of this anniversary year, during the four regional gatherings in the Netherlands debate cycles will be organised themed around global food issues.- More about alumni activities
Opening of the 2013-2014 academic year
The opening of the academic year marks the official start of the new year at Wageningen University. In this anniversary year, the opening ceremony will be held on Monday 2 September 2013. Each year the opening focuses on a different theme.

Wageningen celebrates 750 years
The city of Wageningen also has an anniversary this year. Wednesday 12 June 2013 marks the 750th anniversary of the settlement of Wageningen being granted city rights. Throughout the year, the residents of Wageningen will be celebrating this event. All activities are listed on the special 'Wageningen 750' website.
Past activities
Dies Natalis
The festivities started with the celebration of the Dies Natalis. Each year on or around 9 March, the university celebrates the anniversary of its founding with a symposium and an official celebration. Both events feature renowned Dutch and international speakers. The 95th Dies Natalis was held on Friday 15 March and was completely dedicated to food security, under the theme 'Food for all'.
