MRIJ
Meuse-Rhine-IJssel cattle (abbreviated MRIJ) originate from two regions in the Netherlands; partly from Overijssel (along the river IJssel) and partly from eastern North Brabant (along the rivers Meuse and Rhine). Since 1874 the animals have been registered with the NRS (today: CRV) and in 1905 it was recognised as a breed. That is also when the MRIJ herdbook was established.
