Land policy is an important element of spatial planning. Not only is successful land policy essential for the realisation of a plan, land policy can be a considerable financial post as well. Studies that describe the detail of single land transaction as part of land policy do not exist. In this research single land transactions are studied in three planning cases in the western context. The research aims to explore and theorize aspects that are relevant for the considerations that buyers and sellers make during land acquisition projects. In particular, the study focuses on the choices landowners and land tenants make, when they are bought out for land use changes.
