Regional Environmental Governance: West and Central Africa Ports and the Network Society
Ports in West and Central Africa region face similar challenges and share common environmental problems but their management approach has traditionally been centralized state control and sectoral. With concepts as privatization and globalization, the institutional structure of West and Central African ports is not only changing through increasing public-private partnership but new forms of arrangements are also emerging to deal with environmental problems in the ports. My research aims at studying West and Central African ports as sites where global and local come together in developing innovative solutions to drive regional environmental cooperation.
