Wageningen Common Data Solution Programme

The "Wageningen Common Data Solution" (WCDS) programme is funded by the Ministry of LNV for a period of 2 years. The programme focuses on connecting use cases from different WR institutes to the research data management infrastructure for FAIR data, using generic open-source tools such as iRODS and Yoda.

The outcomes of the programme include developing common data solutions for WUR research institutes to improve data handling and sharing, building expertise in software development and integrating institute-specific requirements, and implementing and exploiting community-driven use cases to extend the WUR common data solutions. Furthermore, the programme places a strong emphasis on improving the continuity of the system to ensure its continued relevance and effectiveness as needs evolve over time.

The Wageningen Common Data Solution programme launched its first call for proposals in March. 9 proposals from 5 WR institutes were accepted. These projects are now in the implementation phase. With the aim of inviting all WR institutes to participate, we have launched a second call for proposals in the second half of this year. We have currently received proposals from 4 institutes that did not participate in the first round. These proposals will be evaluated against the selection criteria and the selected proposals will be announced in December.

In the second week of December, the Wageningen Common Data Solution programme team will organise a workshop on the topic “WR via BUMs - Adagio". Programme details will follow.
