Seven experienced Wageningen researchers, one of them being Wilma van Esse, have been awarded a prestigious Vidi grant worth 800.000 euros. The grant enables her to develop her own innovative line of research and to set up her own research group in the coming five years.

The subject of dr. ir. Ing. Van Esse’s research is the timing of flowering. This not only determines when a flower is formed, but also influences the seed weight, number of branches and the seed number. The researchers will study how these traits are linked at the molecular level in order to improve cereal crop yield through knowledge-based breeding strategies.

We are very proud of Wilma! Curious who the other six researchers are and what topics they are studying? You can find the complete article here.
