WUR Library in Corona times: regular updates
We are very happy that the corona measures have been eased. Below you can read what this means for studying in the Library and for visiting Special Collections.
Update 14 March 2022
- All 650 study places are available again. In returning to the Library's full capacity, we'll take the government's ventilation requirements into account.
- Facemasks are no longer required in the Library. If you feel more comfortable with a facemask, you may, still wear one
- Only the study places on the 4th floor need to be reserved through TimeEdit.
- External vistors are welcome.

Update 17 February 2022
Studying in Forum Library
- As of 25 February, facemasks are no longer required in the Library. If you feel more comfortable with a facemask, you may still wear one.
- All 650 study places will be available again from 25 February. In returning to the Library's full capacity, we'll take the government's ventilation requirements into account. The group study rooms will become available in the coming weeks.
- Although the corona measures have been eased, you still need to reserve a study place. Please book a place up to 24 hours in advance through TimeEdit.

- WUR staff, students and external visitors, can visit the Special Collections department.
- Please email Special Collections to make an appointment for your visit.

Update 16 January 2022
The reopening of on-campus education is accompanied by stricter guidelines on the wearing of facemasks.
- As of Monday 17 January, you need to wear a medical facemask in all WUR buildings, including the Library, both when walking and when you're seated.
- Wearing a medical mask is mandatory, see the WUR Corona Protocol.
- Medical masks will be available from the reception desks from 18 January onwards.
- Study places for WUR students are available at Forum Library. Please reserve your study place in TimeEdit. There are no more walk-in study places.
Update 19 December 2021
The general WUR advice is to work and study at home, unless there is no alternative. Study places are available in Forum Library for WUR students. Please reserve your study place in TimeEdit. There are no more walk-in study places.

Update 14 November 2021
The stricter corona measures that have come into effect on Saturday, 13 November, require the following adjustments in Forum Library:
- To meet the guideline of maximum 75 people per room, the number of study places has been reduced.
- The study places on the 3rd and 4th floor need to be reserved in TimeEdit
- Open walk-in spots are available on the 2nd floor.
- The group study rooms are closed.
- Keep a safe space between yourself and other people when moving around.
Moreover, all previous measures remain in effect.
Update 5 November 2021

- From Saturday, 6 November onwards facemasks will be mandatory when moving through the Forum building and Library. You can take off your mask once you are seated.
- Taking into account the ventilation capacity, the Forum Library will keep the current number of study places.
- When you go to the campus, follow the guidelines from the ‘‘Can I come to campus’’ document.
Basic corona measures
After 6 November these basic measures still apply: take a self-test twice a week, wash your hands frequently, cough and sneeze in your elbow and no shaking hands. If you have symptoms or you have been in close contact with a person who has tested positive, get yourself tested.
Update 24 September 2021
Facemasks not required
Facemasks are no longer required when moving through Forum and the Library. If you feel more comfortable with a facemask, you may, of course, still wear it.
Study places
The 1.5m social distancing rule also no longer applies. The number of study places in the Library will be gradually increased in the coming days. In doing so, we will take the ventilation requirements into account. There are both bookable and drop-in study spots available:
- You can find drop-in study spots on the 2nd and 3rd floor in the Forum Library. These places don’t need to be booked.
- The study places on the 4th floor are accessible only for students with a reservation. Students can book a place up to 24 hours in advance through TimeEdit.

The new study year is about to begin! As of 30 August the Forum Library will resume its regular opening hours.

External visitors
Unfortunately, we can’t welcome external visitors to the Library and Special Collections until further notice. This is in keeping with the WUR's corona policy. Any changes in the corona measures will be communicated on our website.
Update 25 June

As of Saturday 26 June, face masks will no longer be mandatory in Forum Library. The social distancing requirement remains in effect. Please keep a safe space (6 feet) between yourself and other people at all times. We encourage you to wear a face mask if there is a chance people may not keep sufficient distance.
Update 11 June
We emphasise that working and studying from home is still the rule, despite the eased measures. External visitors (unaffiliated with WUR) are not yet allowed into the Library. We kindly request external borrowers to return books by regular post. Please send to: WUR Library, P.O. Box 9100, 6700 HA, Wageningen. You can also put your books in the letterbox next to Forum. We're sorry for this inconvenience. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
Update 25 May
The prospects for a return to a vibrant campus and Library in the new academic year are good. For now, Forum Library is only open for students who cannot study at home. Update 23 April
Opening hours
Forum Library is open for students who cannot study at home. We offer longer opening hours in the coming exam period. Here you can find the openings hours for the exam weeks and public holidays in April and May. Despite the limited capacity in the Library, we look forward to seeing you!
From 7 May onwards we'll resume our regular opening hours.

Update 29 March
The national curfew measure has been slightly relaxed. This means that as of 31 March Forum Library is open for WUR students until 9 pm on working days and until 6 pm at the weekend as long as the curfew applies (reservation required). Despite the limited capacity in the Library, we look forward to seeing you!

Update 8 February
Due to the extension of the national curfew, Forum Library will close at 8 pm on week days until at least 2 March 2021. Working from home and studying from home is the norm. Self-study places are available on campus for students who cannot study at home. You're required to reserve your study place in TimeEdit in advance.
Update 22 January
The Dutch government has announced a national curfew starting Saturday 23 January. These new measures have direct consequences for our opening hours. From 23 January until at least 9 February, Forum Library will close at 8 pm on week days. Any previous reservations for study places after 8 pm are cancelled.

The Leeuwenborch Library is closed. WUR Library will not have extended opening hours during the next exam week. The Library's digital collection is available and our services are continuing online as much as possible.

Online document delivery only
Until 5 January 2021 our document delivery services are limited to items available online only. Requests from the physical collections are suspended. This means that you cannot request books or copies of book chapters from the WUR collection or from other libraries by interlibrary loan. Please keep in mind that processing your document request may take longer than usual and some items may be unavailable.
Borrowing
When visiting in person, you can still borrow books that are available on the open shelves in Forum Library. Until 5 January 2021, you cannot borrow books from the closed stacks or Leeuwenborch Library.
Update 15 October

As of 15 October face masks are mandatory in all WUR buildings. When you are going to study at the Forum Library, wear a non-medical mask any time you move through the Forum building and the Library. You can take off your mask once you are seated. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
Update 9 October
WUR has expanded the number of study places in Forum, Orion and the Leeuwenborch. Due to the current social distance requirements, the number of study spots on campus is still limited. Therefore, it's necessary to make a reservation for the study spaces, including for those in the Forum Library. This ensures you'll have a working spot before coming to campus. Update 6 October
Following the national corona guidelines, the number of available study places in Forum Library is limited. Students are asked to study at home as much as possible. For those who have no alternative study place, Forum Library has longer opening hours from 12 until 22 October. Keep an eye on this website to see any changes to our corona policy.

Update 27 July
All existing loans were originally extended to 15 August 2020 and have now been extended to 22 September 2020. Please return your Library books before that date. Forum Library is open on week days from 8 am until 6 pm for WUR staff and students. There is also a drop box available in front of the Library entrance where you can return your books when the Library is closed.
Update 22 June
From Monday 22 June Forum Library is open from Monday until Friday from 8 am until 6 pm for WUR staff and students. However, space is limited because of social distancing requirements.
The Special Collections reading room is open by appointment only. The Leeuwenborch Library is closed until further notice. The Forum and Leeuwenborch libraries will remain closed for studying until further notice. We're making preparations to ensure a safe learning and working environment for everyone, so we can safely reopen our locations. Forum Library closed until further notice
In order to further reduce any risk of spreading the corona virus Forum Library is closed as of Wednesday 25 March 2020 until further notice.
If you need any books or other materials from WUR Library, you can order them via the LiveChat on the website, e-mail or Document Delivery. A Pick up & Go desk is available in Forum Library on working days from 10:00 am till 12:00 noon for borrowing and returning of books. Inter Library Book Loan Services suspended
Many libraries in the Netherlands as well as world-wide have been closed temporarily. To our regret it is no longer possible to borrow books from other libraries. You can still request articles and book chapters from other libraries. And of course you can still request & borrow books from WUR Library. Please keep in mind that processing your request may take longer than usual and some items may be unavailable.

Due to new corona measures Forum Library has limited opening hours as of Thursday 19 March until 6 April. Leeuwenborch Library and Special Collections are closed.

How to renew books?

Update 13 March
- Leeuwenborch Library and Special Collections will be closed as of 14 March until further notice.
- At Forum Library we have reduced the number of study places to a maximum of 100 seats per floor, summing up to a maximum of 300 seats. Seats have already been put aside, please do no place them back.
- Visitors showing clear signs of Nasal congestion or Coughing will be asked by Library staff to conform to the general Corona guidelines and leave the building.
